Any suggestions of where to buy a full shop tool kit for the best price.
I am in need of a truing stand, dish guage, tension meter, cone wrenches, freewheel removers, headset press, bearing press.
My main work will be vintage bicycles.
Any tips appreciated. I'd love to get all I need for under 3,000$

ask around town at other bike shops. they probably know of one going under. bike shops go under all the time.

That shopping list can be had for under 1k at full retail.
truing stand, dish guage, tension meter = 300
freewheel removers = 20
headset press, bearing press = 300

Is this for a hobby? How often will you be using your tool set? The more often you use it, the more you should invest. I have a light hobby of fixing bikes, and I'm doing fine with a bike stand and a truing stand that are less than professional quality.
Check the sales on nashbar.com. I see they're currently having a sale on tools.

The question about purchasing a tool-kit v. buying the tools you need one (or 3) at a time was just gone over exhaustively in this thread:

I suggest you read it before you buy.

How about this... Park Tool's MK-187. Not for a person on a budget though. I drooled when I saw this for the first time :)

You would be paying for the Park name on many of the tools there. Such as screwdrivers, hex-wrenches, and box-wrenches. You can find equal (or better) quality at your local Sears store - for less money.

If you can find a shop that will sell you wholesale, the whole, everything but the kitchen sink, park tool set comes in around that price.
