I've owned this bike since High School. When I had to get the derailleur hanger repaired, I decided to go the extra mile and have the bottle cage bosses and cable guides brazed on. I debated long and hard on whether to recreate the original look as in the first photograph, or go completely different. The following photos pretty well describes my decision. A local craftsman who customizes motorcycle frames did the powder coat. I also debated whether to put any decals back on it. After getting the frame back from the powder coat, I really liked the minimalist look and decided to leave it sans decorations.

Yeah. I swapped it out thinking if I ever wanted to go to a compact chainring, the 110's are easier to come by.

Nice job. It's not really bare. That head badge really says a lot and is quite striking contrasted against the black.
Get the Stronglight crank back on it, really you should. In fact, you HAVE to.

He doesn't HAVE to, it's his choice whether to use it or not. What he has to do is mail the stronglight crankset to me. If he decides not to use it of course.

How 'bout the Stronglight and a Brooks Pro? Either black or brown would look stunning. Just sayin; your bike.

i'm pretty sure 3'rd is the charm... may you please mail the crankset to me?
on other notes, what happend to the nice black brake levers (modolo?)... if anything wouldnt they match more then the current ones while being more comfortable and of better quality.
(i wish i had a bike that nice in highschool!)

Seriously though......The bike is fantastic. +1 on a Brooks saddle though.
Nice job, the aero brake levers clean up the front, I prefer the look.

Couldn't agree more on the brooks. However, I pretty much depleted my fun money on the frame repair and powder coat. The crank came from a Raliegh Marathon I rescued from the brink of the dump. It was "Rode hard and put away wet" to coin a cliche, but I was able to harvest a few nice parts. As for the Stronglight crank;I polished it and put it on and all I could think of was "too much bling". The softer sheen on the S.R. seemed to blend in better. But not to worry. It, a jubilee derailleur and a few other goodies are quietly waiting on that second in a lifetime puegot find. The first slipped away because I didn't have a way to haul it home. I hurried back with the van, but.......:bang:
