Having a strange problem. It seems to me that my front wheel is rubing against the brake. No mater how much i center the wheel or the brakes there is rub. The strange thing about it is that it only does this when i corner, out of the saddle riding. Is this my wheel flexing? I checked the tension on the spokes and they seem fine. What should i do??

hold the bike up, and try to move the rim side to side does it move? if so the bearings are loose

Maybe just lube the spring in the shifters? Sometimes that can be the problem for me.

If it's a quick release wheel, make sure it's set all the way in and that the skewer is truely tight (about 30-40lbs of force to close)...i

Hey Koffee, It is rubbing on the brake pads up front, shifters  ? I know you know better then that;)

If it only in turns or powering out of the saddle it most likely is the wheel flexing. Are you on the heavier side? Perhaps you have a low spoke count.

I would say perhaps the wheel needs to be trued but if it is not doing it in a stright line probably not.

While I'm at it, might as well correct myself-
I meant to say the spring in the calipers... lube that. Sometimes the spring may be sticky and prevent the brake from working properly. When I've lubed mine before, it seems to work.

I had a Raleigh that used to do that many, many moons ago. Turns out the cable housing was too short and would bind the brake cable when cornering. Maybe not likely if your bike is newer, unless you have a handlebar bag or some such item causing a bind. My bike was used, and I had re-done all the cables and housings myself. Live and learn, I never cut the housings too short again! ;-)

I dont think it is my weight(165) but probably wheel flex. The tension is even throughout the wheel. I will have to lube the springs in the brakes and check my cables for length. I never thought of the cables?

Is it always the same side that rubs, or does it depend on which way you are cornering? What type of brakes do you have?

Quite possibly, yes. My Spinergy wheel does this when hammering out of the saddle on climbs. It'll flex from one side to another, depending on which way the bike is leaning, slightly rubbing both pads.
