Anyone know of a brand of Heart Rate Monitors that use an arm band instead of the chest strap? My wife wants one and all I can find is the Body Bugg that cost about $319, looking for one that is more affordable.

Never seen one that goes around your arm. And FYI, the BodyBugg DOES NOT monitor your heart rate. They have been asked for that option for quite some time but they can't find a way to get an accurate reading on the arm.

The HRM that use arm bands don't tend to be very good - you need the chest location to pick up the electrical activity of the heart consistently.

I have no idea whether these twpo are of value. I use a strap HRM. Works well for me.

Actually, arm band heart rate monitors are perfectly viable, but they need an electrical connection between them to work, so you'd need a small cable running from one to the other, and I guess that's not an acceptable solution.

I get perfect signals using my heart rate monitor's band if I hold the sensor pads against my wrists.

Okay...I'll set myself up for abuse. What is the difference between heart rate and pulse in terms of measurable opportunities? Doesn't each heart beat create a pulse? If your pulse is 60 per minute, wouldn't your heart rate be 60 beats per minute?
