Does anyone know of any manufacturers still makind press in bottom brackets that would be compatable with an old Fat Chance? The origional was made by Fat Chance, so we won't seen any more of those anytime soon.

I think Phil Wood makes bearings and axles that will work.

It's probably a common industrial bearing size. You can go that route or try the bike bearing places like Boca ($$, ceramic), ABI,enduro, and the obvious one, your local bike shop who can do ProblemSolvers through QBP. These will probably be cheaper than Phil Wood and work just fine for your application.

Friend of mine has an original 1970's Chance bike made by Chris Chance before he went Fat. It had a Phil Wood. So you're in the right ballpark.

I am not familiar with BMX stuff, so this could be off base, but do you mean a one-piece or ashtabula crank? If so, it will not fit. Is there another kind of BMX press-in BB?

Yeah, I think there are three standard sizes, all for 3- piece cranks(american, euro, spanish). Press the bearings in, tap the axle through, bolt the cranks on.

If you can remove the old bearings, any bearing or industrial supply house should be able to match them.

Depending on how fast you go through bottom brackets, you might be able to have a metal shop braze in a layer of metal and then tap it for standard threading so you could use a standard bottom bracket.
