Bicycle Mechanics - new pads for my Tektro CR720's

I want to put Kool Stop pads on my Tektro CR720's, but I don't know which to get. I looked at the Sheldon Brown website and I am not certain which one to get.

Are you attempting to disparage Thinline's? I have had no problem with them making noise. Of course, I also know how to adjust brake-pads. Some people have this problem. But cleaning the rims with alcohol and a Nylon scrubbie, followed by toeing-in the pads, has made any squeals go away after the first mile or two.

Some people are to demanding and lazy to tolerate some noise for a few miles. For them - I suggest carrying a long frame-fit pump. And jamming it through the front spokes. Guaranteed to stop you quietly. :D

CR720's come with cartridge style holders so you want the refills.

I am disparaging Kool Stops. I've used them and shortly thrown them out. You need to recognize land fill when you see it. Then take the appropriate action to unite it with the local dump. bk

You are the first poster I've come across that had this opinion. All others have thought them great for stopping power without squealing problems.

I'd go with the Kool-Stop BMX pads and toss out the cartridge holders, in my opinion. Contrary to their name, they're not just for BMX bikes, working very well for any bike with decent fork clearance. They're threaded, easily adjustable, and they're flexible so they tend to give excellent stopping power without squeal and without having to fuss with them. I've had them on my road bike for a few thousand miles. They never squeal, and I haven't adjusted them even once since installing them.

Those are the ones that are recommended as primo from Sheldon's site. ;) I've been looking at the CR720's for another bike, and fully intend to get another set of the BMX pads

The ONLY caveat - the BMX are thicker than some pads like the Thinline, which is why I assume others recommend the thinline. However, I think the BMX is better, and I have to imagine any bike that has canti brakes should have the fork clearance for thicker pads. Heck, I've got them on my road bike.
