Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I found this article in a 1989 Winning magazine. It was interesting how much more specialized tandems have become over the last 20 years.
Co-Motion Winner, 531 & True Temper tubing
Superbe Pro Derailleurs
Dura-ace Cranks
Dia-Comp NGC Cantilevers
Campy Super Record Levers
Mavic GP-4 36 hole Rims
Campagnolo Record low flange Hubs
Clement Paris-Roubaix Silk Tires
hehe! It was a simpler time ...
All those components were basically the same as I ran on my singles around that time - Campy hubs, mavic 36 hole GP4 rims, Superbe derailleurs, and around that time I'd have had Campy calipers, a Suntour New Winner freewheel and sawn-off handlebars with Suntour bar-end shifters!
Actually, most of that, except the later Suntour stuff, was the equipment on my buddy's Bob Jackson tandem that I used to stoke on back in 1974. Just standard Campy with Suntour rear der and bar-end shifters, SuperChamp Arc-en-Ciel rims, 36 hole, tied-and-soldered.

Me too, I ran some of almost everything in the 80's. Most of my bikes were pieced together from whatever someone else at the local bike shop didn't want. To long a story. Come to think of it, my bikes today are still somewhat like that....

Co-Motion referred to that frame design as 'tri-lateral.'
Nice/stiff design.
Designed a custom one like that for folks who really needed something special. He: 6 foot 7 inches; her: 5 foot 3 inches. Also utilized Bullseye eliptical cross-over chainrings with custom crankarms for pilot at 220 mm! Needless to say had to design it with a higher than normal BB.
That tandem's still being ridden today with over 30,000 miles on it.
Pedal on TWOgether!
