Folding Bikes - Brompton seeks Klickfix adapter for long term relationship.

I am the proud owner of a Brompton bought second hand. It's the S2L model (flat bars/2 speeds) with a Brooks swallow saddle. Paid $900 cash for it.

I noticed that my Brompton's headtube has a welded on metal piece meant to engage with one of Brompton's own plastic braces so that you could attach bags to the bike.

Does anyone know if this system is compatible with the Klickfix system, which is used on some Dahons?

If not, perhaps someone makes an adapter that converts the Brompton system to a Klickfix one? I'm hopeful but so far a websearch have yielded nothing.

Why change. The Brompton system is a very good one. Their bags, although expensive but very good, fit perfect and in an easy way on the bike.
As far as I know are both systems not compatible. But I know of people who used the Klickfix by putting it at the saddle.

If rain prevented cycling on a Brompton, in the UK, we'd hardly ever ride..............

Just buy the Brompton "Front Carrier Block", about $35. Then you can make your own frame out of aluminium channel which you can buy from big hardware stores, to slide over the block, & attach whatever you like :-)

I have an extra klickfix adapter that goes on the seat tube or head tube, plus the freepak sport backpack. Bought it from Thor a couple of months ago and it's nice but now I think I actually want the freepak city instead...will sell bag and adapter to you if you want, just pm me.

I don't know about fitting a KlickFix adapter to the front of the Brompton, but I bought a Klickfix adapter for my Brompton's seat post along with the SportPack backpack Nekohime is selling. I just LOVE it. I wanted a backpack specifically because I like the hands-free convenience and evenly distributed weight when wearing it, and I really like that the backpack sits behind me on the bike, reducing wind drag. Scroll down to my third post and you'll see a bunch of photos. The only downside is that the backpack plus adapter is a little on the heavy side and they were quite expensive, but those are minor compared to the convenience. The backpack snaps on and off in an instant and the whole system is really well made and solid.

Yeah, the system is awesome! Very secure--i left the backpack on the bike when I put it on the bus rack one day, and though I was worried at first, 7mi bouncing around on Sunset blvd did not shake the thing off.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Lots of good ideas. I like the idea of fitting double wheels on the rear fenders. I'm going to stop by the local skateboard place to get a set of rollerblade wheels.

I still haven't given up on adapting a Klickfix headtube adapter to my Brompton's headtube. If nothing is available, I could always pay a local machine shop to make a custom metal piece to make it fit.

I was debating between the Downtube Mini, the Dahon Curve SL or the Brompton. I'm very happy I went with the Brompton. It's a beauty.
