Im building some wheels and I got some old Deore hubs. When I put a spoke through the spoke hole it seems somewhat loose, like theres a lot of room for the spoke to move around in there. They are 14 gauge spoke by the way. Does having "too much" room for a spoke in the spoke hole matter much? Is it significantly better to have a spoke fit snugly into a hub spokehole?

There should be a slightly loose fit, otherwise it would be near impossible to get the hole around the elbow. Once it is laced and tensioned, there will be no play.
