Northern California - need help with route near san fran

I need to pedal from downtown San Fran up to bodega Can someone suggest a safe route to get it done in a day w/o

getting squished?

I actually need to end up at that church where they filmed the old alfred hitchcock movie the "birds".

I'm just not sure what that excact area is called.

ok, I need to end up in bodega california.

There is the town of Bodega just before you get to Bodega Bay, I'm not sure where exactly they filmed The Birds. The roads are mostly country roads and are reasonably safe.

Are you used to those distances? it's about 135+ miles RT. I left at 7am and got back about 4-5pm without too much time spent at rest stops. Might be good to have lights too in case.

Yes, Bodega the town is my destination.

I'll be going up one day and coming back a couple days later. 75 per day no problem.

big hills on the route?

Probably to avoid hills on the way back, the best way may be around the Nicasio Res. and through Fairfax. If you come back via shoreline 1, you have to climb either Panoramic Highway or the Muir beach climb to get back to Mill Valley.

Going to Bodega, there's just a lot of rollers but no one big hill.

This route is more uphill than if you cut in at Olema and follow Sir Frances Drake Highway. There is an uphill right past Olema but the rest of the ride is pretty flat.

The route from Fairfax to SF is not all that obvious and I would recommend you get a Marin Country bike map which will show you the way. Here is an on-line version of the side of the Marin bike map you need (so maybe you don't have to buy it). It shows you the way from Fairfax to the GG Bridge. let me see if I get this.

take the 5 bike trail right after the gg bridge north to the 10 over to the 15 to the 20 to hiway 1?

does that sound right and will I be on a path or the side of a road?

I checked the numbers on the Marin bike map and they look right to me. I don't recall there being any signs on any of these roads and some of the turns are not obvious. This is why getting the map and using it as you navigate through Marin Country will keep you from getting lost and to get on the better biking roads and not the main highways.
