Foo - Money making Ideas

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

OK so I am a bit strapped for cash with my racing, and the weather is cap so I have come on here looking for ways to make money. With my training and racing, I am unable to take a job due to the hours they want me to work etc, in particular weekends which I need to use for riding.
I have thought about coaching a local kids team of some sort, but there isn't exactly money involved there!
What about fixing up bikes and selling them? I am not sure if this would work here.
I am quite a dab hand with web design, I am wondering if I could offer some local businesses my services and create a website for them?
I have also thought about offering a lawnmowing service to people I know. Use their mower and all, so all I need to do is cycle to their place and mow. I can therefore work when I am not training etc, same with the webdesign.
any thoughts, fire them this way.

Drug sales, eCommerce, window cleaning, real estate, prostitution, messengering, shall I go on?

messengering in a small town..anyone ever heard of it? hmmmm :D but the others? :S what do you mean by eCommerce?
I have thought of setting up an online/mail order road bike tyre company but I need alot of $$$ to set it up.

Suck it up and get a job. If you are looking for part-time work to pay the bills, you can't be too picky. Just don't become a telemarketer.

Why not? I was a telemarketer for 12 months a while back. It pays well if you're good at it (and if you find the right company).

wait tables or tend bar. schedules can be flexible, there're tons of great people to meet and the pay is largely in cash. of course, just like what Chris said (as with anything, I guess) you need to find the right place. I put myself through college by waiting tables.
oh, I guess I should say that it can be a d*** tough job, but that's life.
good luck!

flexibility in hours is the main thing for me. as yet I have to find a job locally that does not state "must be able to work weekends".... I get the impression that these companies will not be very flexible....

Sell your body on the street. Everybody knows cyclists have hot bodies...despite the scabs.

A friend of mine got a really good job as room service in a hotel. he works kinda strange hours, but they'd be pretty decent for a cyclist. he works like 5:30 to 11:00 at night and 6:00 to 11:00 in the mornings in the weekend. he gets like 4:30 an hour plus tips, which are big, because the hotel gives him a 15% comission plus what the people give him...I kinda wish I had gotten in on it.
I'm a lifeguard, I work just during the summer, though right now. It pays alright.
being a waiter can be very profitable if you are good at it. you have to work for your money, and a lot of the moeny comes in cash form, so you might be more apt to spend it though...
