Foo - Oh the irony

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I took the GREs last Saturday without studying much partly because of laziness, partly because no time, and mostly because I'm too cheap to pay for review materials/gre review classes. I come to class today and what do they do? Give out free Kaplan GRE review books.
Any of you have some other ironic stories lately?
CPR/FA required for taking a course at school, but not enrolled yet.
student discount available for CPR/FA course if you show your student card.

It's like 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife.......
I remember the GREs. I didn't think they were a test that needed any studying, but I did happen to find an older study book at a library book sale a few weeks before the test. I didn't crack it open until the night before the test (worked graveyard shift and was going in to test right after work in the morning). I took the first sample test and it scared the crap out of me. It wasn't that it was very hard, but the time limit killed me.
Turned out I ended up doing fine on the GREs though. I could have done better had I studied, but I still had a good enough score to get into the grad program and even be a TA or RA if I wanted (I didn't).

Sounds more like unfortunate timing than irony.

I did pretty well on them too, for taking just two practice tests the day before :p Enough to get into most of the grad schools, but I'm retaking because I know I can do much better on the verbal part.

That was pretty much my same scenario. Two practice tests the night before. I did pretty good on math and logic, but was a weaker on verbal. I remember being teased by a friend of mine who did better than me on verbal when English wasn't her first language. I didn't retake though...I had a good enough score to get in to my college's program which was all I needed.
GRE... we don't even have that in Canada.

That reminds me of the time when a friend in England was teasing me for not using the British pronunciation of certain words. It was amusing to hear her correct me, since she was originally from Hong Kong and had a bit of an accent herself! :)

:roflmao2:
As I was turning out of the cemetary at about 3 AM, I am running through my checklist to make sure I have not missed anything. It is then that I notice what I thinks is a hand sticking out of the trunk. As I begin to turn off the main road, the police lights come on behind me, and I think "Well it had to end sometime"
Turns out the police are having one of those "good citizen" campaigns and they just wanted to say thanks for signalling my lane change, even though it was 3 AM and no one was around.
