Thankfully... I am not completely confined to the house and do try and walk as much as possible which on some days is nearly zero and on others I can manage a little more mileage.

I read a lot, play my guitar, keep the house tidy, and cook a great deal.

Videogame, preferably an RPG that will take up almost the entire day. Then read. Then eat, sleep, internet.

+1... this is where a Steam account comes in handy. There is always some RPG or something that you can find there that has enough hours of play time to get you through the back problem.

I agree with the books suggestion. If I were in that situation, I'd pick something I've wanted to study, such as engineering or architecture, and learn everything there is to know about it.

What stretches, i was told doing the wrong ones can cause more harm. I've made up a few that feel really good though i do all day long.

You could learn more computer programming, read books, watch loads of TV, construct something (while sitting down), learn how to cook, open a printer and learn about it, open a computer and learn about stuff, draw, paint, play computer games, etc. etc. etc.

I read, browse the internet, spend way too much time on adult sites, watch recordings on my dvr, play video games, and sleep way too much.
Most of the time I am confined to the house is when I am sick. Nothing beats sleep for getting over being sick.

You can play with the manual settings of your camera and take pics of a rotating ceiling fan.

How did you hurt your back? If you did it at work then there should be worker's comp rehab. If you hurt it outside of work then you still should have rehab.

What limitations did your doctor say? Other than that I would ask him what exercises you can do to help the progression.

I have been stuck in this one spot on the couch since my knee surgery on Friday. So far I have been wearing out my iPhone, surfing the net on the laptop, watching countless hours of mind numbing tv, enjoying the netflix Roku, rubbing my dogs belly and eating ice cream that my wife brings me once a day.

I have also been enjoying my neighbors coming over to check on me a couple of times and my parents stopping by to see me. I'm not sure how long I am going to be confined to the couch but I am really looking forward to being able to walk around. Going to the bathroom is a chore and all of my bedrooms are upstairs so I can't even get to my bed at night.

Not sure did alot of physical activity, 3 days of mtbiking, basketball, racquetball all in a 5 day span. Few days later pain in my butt, sciatic nerve ran down to my foot. Now that pain is gone and I have tons of pain in my calf and upper leg muscle, I'm totally afraid i got a leg clot or something. I'm sick of sitting around, I wanna go jog and play basketball again ug.

Did you get a new mtb? Or did you fix up the Trek?

Why do you think you have a leg clot? Do you have a heart murmur? What did the doctor say? Can you walk around just a bit or is it too painful?

Well it was really hard to walk, but the problem was sitting, walking, and laying down were all varying levels of mortal pain. My pain was sciatic and only in my lower back/ butt. Now that's gone and i have really bad pain in my lower leg and i don't understand why, so i thought maybe i got a blood clot because i had to sleep alot with my leg bent to avoid pain. I saw the doctor and he thought the sciatic problem was all muscular so I've been on a muscle relaxer and codeine tylenol for the past 5 days. I'm thinking maybe walking would help my back? my core is really weak now from 2 weeks of being stuck on my arse.

Cut the anklet off...It probably has sensors for that. It's easier to just take your leg off (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/justice/article2233642.ece) and wear the spare around town.
