My current Giant uses a straight bar with bar ends. My new bike has no handle bars. What are the differences between the straight bar and a riser bar.

I have no complaints with my current setup, but want to hear what you have to say before buying.

thanks
Anuar

Man, I'd complain! Riding a mountain bike with no handlebars takes a level of riding skill that I can't even imagine!

Handlebars is one thing I'd definitely check out before buying.

Riser bars will give you a more upright position which is often favoured by downhill riders, commuters and anyone with back problems. Flat bars will generally give you a lower position, often favoured by xc-racers. Riser bars are often wider than flat bars (but not always). Riser bars tend to be slightly (and we're not talking a lot here) heavier.
