I got a chain cleaner and cleaned my chain off then proceded to use my normal finish line lube. The next day it rained and my bike's chain got rust spots all over it. I'm thinking maybe a wax based lube could be the way to go. Any suggestions? Peace.

wax will not hold up as well. I am trying a new lube called voodew goo. I have only had it on two days though. it is really slick compared to anything else I have used.

I use TriFlow, and I'm a year-round commuter. I've had no problems.....

And have dirt stick to your chain like glue.
I always recommend GT85 to our customers. Its a light, dry lubricant that sprays on, does not attract dirt, and is very easy to clean when necessary. Its not a bike specific lubricant but its better than any bike specific product I've ever used.
Astroglide lubes my "chain" hehehe...
Honestly, I use finishline dry. It attracts very little dirt and I don't seem to have any problems with it.

Thanks for the posts. What do ya'll use to get rust off a chain? Anything special? Or just more good lube? Peace.
Try wiping with a rag with a little WD-40, or any of the "rust buster" products, then re-lube.
I always used kerosene to clean the chain and lube with motor oil (riding old bikes). This year I purchased a new Trek for the 20 mile roundtrip commute and yesterday for the first time I tried Simple Green for the clean and Prolink for the lube. Simple green cleans better than Kero and smells better too, the prolink seems dryer and less apt to pick up dirt.

I'll vote for Prolink, too. Lasts longer than anything I've ever used and seems to attract much less dirt than TriFlow (my second choice).

I've been using Finish Line Teflon Dry and have gotten the chain wet and my chain did not begin to rust; TriFlow never did either.

GT85, good stuff
www.mtbr.com (http://www.mtbr.com) has zillions of reviews of chain lube. The one people like best there (and they seem to like it a good bit more than any of the ones mentioned here so far) is rock n roll. (www.rocklube.com (http://www.rocklube.com))
When I need to buy more chain lube i'll buy some of that, i think.
Well besides the token Prolink votes that are always stated, I use and swear by two lubes, one is Pedro's Ice Wax, and the other is Motorex dry lube. The Motorex is great stuff nothing seems to stick to it. The Pedros is also great stuff, I live in a super dry climate in the summer that really tests lubes. Pedros has always done real well. The Motorex is slighty better in that it lasts longer.

I got some prolink (I think that's what it was, I'm in a different state without my bike so I'm not sure). Man the stuff I got was great though. I looked on the bottle and it was manufactured by Boeing. No wonder. The aviation industry has to develop the best lubes. Thanks for everyone's input.

Oh, I found out what I bought. It is called T-9 bike lube. Man this stuff rocks. It's made by boeing which explains the quality. The aviation industry produces the best lubricants around.
ProLink lubricates effectively, doesn't wear out, or wash off as quickly as other dry lubes (Tri-flow), creates only minimal build-up, and doesn't attract much dirt. I've tried many lubes (White Lightning, Tri-flow, Dumonde Tech, Finish-Line Cross Country, etc.) and ProLink is my fav. Dumonde Tech is another lube similar to Prolink, but it builds-up more than ProLink.
Though some riders swear by them, I would advise against using a wax lube (White Lightning, Pedros Ice Wax, etc.). Wax lubes create heavy build-up after just a couple applications. Also, in cold weather, wax lubes tend to harden, and actually inhibit chain movement.
