I have a race tomorrow and i was wondering if i should have a powerbar, and an energy drink a couple hours before i race. Is it a good thing to do? or am i making a mistake?

Don't overdo it cause I hear all the carbs can dehydrate you faster since your body uses a lot of water to process them... I usually make some really weak Cytomax and drink that, or sweet tea (its basically water with a little sugar and tea for those who are from the south). Something thats not too calorie/carb laden and has a lot of pure water in it w/o the high fructose corn syrup and all that junk. If I feel like I need it I'll eat a Clif Bar before the race.

i heard that drinking water the whole day before the race, like, so you're peeing every 30 minutes is really good, because your body won't dehydrate nearly as fast as usual.

Tis true... make sure you're pissing clear before the race, thats how runners often gauge their hydration.

4 hours before race, eat a plate of pasta and drink water. It works and tastes better than a powerbar and energy drinks.

I agree with what they said about peeing clear. Stay hidrated all the time before a race. some of the runners at my school that I've seen drink at leas a 20 oz bottle of water each class when they have a meet. I don't know about the energy drinks and bars though so I won't tell you anything about that because it might end up being wrong. Good luck in your race,
Jeff
Edit: Woops, he's probably already on his way to the race.

Congrats on the finish, good for a first race.
What was the biggest surprise?
What was the best/worst part?
Most importantly, are you going to race again?
