Shut-up you freaking show-off! :D

Keep it up and by the time you are my age, just this side of 60, you wont' be poking along at a mere 14-15 mph. But I still ride 20-30 miles most of the time, and try to hit 40 to 60 on the weekends after I build up some endurance after the winter lay off.

May 22, and you will only be 58. That is when I STARTED riding! You are a "Young Punk!"

2 a days aren't really that productive on a bike like they are in other sports like running. try going longer instead of more often when you have time for a two a dayer.

also, you might want to take it a little easy. there are so many injuries that are caused by too much, too fast. for instance, I am layed up right now, getting fat becuase I went into speedwork (running) too hard. I'm only 17...and from now on my goal in training is just to not get injured.

I think that sounds great and keep it up. Just watch out for the motorists that don't watch out for you.

Just curious, what are you pedaling?

Hey, I too started road biking recently (started about 8 weeks ago).

I'm a big guy (220), and right now I average 18mph over a 32 mile course which has an accumulated climb of 1200 feet. When I started riding, I was averaging around 16.5 mph (over a shorter course, but similar grades of hills). So, if my experience is anything to judge by, you should see alot of improvement (and I usually only get out 2 times a week! :( )

With a free summer ahead of you, you should hauling as* by August.

The average speed you guys manage to achieve is impressive! I have not been able to get anywhere close to that on my old Raleigh Grand Prix (10 speed). Just wondering if its the bike or its pathetic engine?

Sound advice, Phatman. Quite a few are lured back too soon from injury while many others want to leapfrog stages in building endurance. Both end up worse for the wear.

Well, it looks like you are about a zillion miles above sea level and you ain't go much oxygen up there, so maybe the engine needs a bigger carb, or perhaps air injection?
