Fifty Plus (50+) - I ALMOST went out today...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

But the temps never made it out of the 30's. I need it to be at least in the low 40's. Instead I did about 10 minutes on the track stand. Felt pretty manly!

It's supposed to be a day of rest anyway.
I almost went out today too. Full sun, 29 or 30, west winds at 10--real nice day, for mid-February in Western NY.
But it felt like I was going to work. I've worked (and bike commuted) 35 of the 45 days so far this year. I just needed a day on the couch with a book. Details in blog (http://brucew.com/).

Did 12 miles of hills today at 30f. Even with winter shoes, good gloves and such I was cold. The only good thing at 6pm when I took the dog for a walk, it was still kind of light. There is hope.
Got out for a whopping 5 miles in mid-30's late this afternoon. Felt good in spite of increasingly colder fingertips. Two pair of gloves wasn't enough. Different gloves next time. Lighter later. Yes, there is hope.

Took my first two outdoor rides over the last two days. In the thirties both days but the wind made it feel much cooler. Sweatshirt and a 3/4 length windbreaker helped a lot. Do need to get full gloves though. Couldn't feel my fingers and thumbs for much of the ride. But it sure felt good to be outdoors again! C'MON SPRING.:roflmao2:
It poured rain most of the day here in sunny southern California, but I did get out for a nice 4-mile jog/racewalk, with a stop at the YMCA for some much-needed upper body training. (I am slowly but steadily recovering from a rotator cuff problem, so I can empathize with all of you with shoulder complaints.)

Well, I got out. Temp in low forties, but stiff breeze took the joy out of it. Quit after 6.5 miles. I HATE WINTER!!:(
