I posted several months ago with a question about mega doses of vitamin E causing high blood pressure. At the time my BP was generally in the 145/95 range give or take 5. I stopped taking the E and my blood pressure for the last two months has been around 120/60 +- 5. This has just perplexed me to no end!
I have not changed my life style very little in this time. I have not gained or lost weight, and I have always biked as much a possible. The drop seems to have taken 4 or 5 months after stopping the E. The only other thing I have done is stopped drinking coffee totally, but I only drank a few cups in the morning, and then it was only 3- 5 days a week (at work).

I work in a hospital so it is never a problem to check it. 2 months ago at work one evening it was 151/105, today at work it was 120/64! :D I will continue to monitor my BP, but if anyone has any clues, clue me in! :)

Vitamin E is used by some cardiac patients to help strengthen and regulate the heart beat.

Here's a quote from this web site http://www.doctoryourself.com/vitamin_e.html :

"Persons with high blood pressure need to increase their daily amount of Vitamin E gradually, say the Shutes. This is because the vitamin increases the strength of the heartbeat, and a gradual increase of E avoids any sudden rise in blood pressure. The Shutes found that over a period of months, a GRADUALLY increasing dose can yield a LOWER blood pressure."

After finding this study www.dukemednews.org/news/article.php?id=5687 , I think just may have been giving up the morning coffee that did the trick. This article hit me between the eyes!

Where would a good starting place be for adding vitamin E back into my diet be? 200, 500, 100, should anyone ever take more than a certain amount?
