Northern California - Capay Valley Cruise, Sunday March 8

I'm planning on leading this ride next month-it's a beautiful, quiet rural valley with little traffic. Hope you all can join me....

Ride the bucolic Capay Valley and Rumsey Canyon at a social pace
(15-17mph), with frequent regroups. The out and back route starts at the
Cache Creek Casino and runs north on Highway 16 to the turnaround at
Highway 20. Mostly flat in the Capay Valley with mostly rollers in the
Rumsey Canyon. In conjunction with the Davis Bike club. Water may
not be available en route so be prepared. Rain cancels.

I'm gonna give this a try, Joe. The "spring ahead" part is going to make this interesting with a 9 AM start.

I take it rain cancels? or are we going to HTFU (and just hang out in the smokey casino)? :p

Also, we got a sitter. So my bride will be along as well. If it's showing precip, we won't be coming.

You mean we're not going to have 15mph headwinds out and back this year? :D

That's a good thing since I've had a chest cold all week. It's breaking up just in time for the ride...

There's no Peets on the bike route, but you'll drive past one in Vacaville at the new Nut Tree center, next to Amici's Pizza (yes, we have one too!), by the Best Buy. Might be a good pit stop on the way...

Even though she does centuries and did the STP last year she doesn't enjoy pacelines and worries this will be a paceline hammerfest.

Haha, you're a funny guy, Curtis. Tell Trish she has nothing to worry about, the only pacelines form when there are 15 mph headwinds coming and going, lol. ;) Really, she has nothing to worry about.

No fixed gear Sunday. The Kestrel needs a bit of love. It's been so wet I've been on my fenderized commuter bike a lot, and got in a fixed ride yesterday. So it the full gear shifting carbon extravaganza for Sunday!

Glad you can make it. I'm in no shape to hammer-I'll be hiding from the wind as much as possible-so if your wife wants to ride slower, she won't be alone.

I TTT'd today. I'm not so great that I need two races in a weekend this early in the season.

Besides, the tandem hasn't seen any love since just after New Year's, and Cgallagh will spend the next 6 weeks working crazy hours. A leisurely ride in a pretty place we haven't ridden in, and riding with friends, is much more to my liking.

Remember, if some of the DBC folks come out, there might be another tandem or two in there, too. At least there was last year.
