Hey, i'm looking for suggestions on different brands/styles of open clamping quill stems. Examples could be Cinelli's Frog and Deda's Murex. I have a murex now but need something a little shorter in length (120mm right now), and seemingly both these models of stems arn't made anymore (i can't find them).

Preferably i want to find something forged, weld marks are a *****-killer for me.

Any first hand experience with a stem would be great, thanks for the opinions/suggestions

Cinelli made some nice ones where the clamp was hidden behind the logo, I think someone in C&V has one up in the for trade section right now.

3ttt makes a beautiful gunmetal stem with a single bolt closure, the front is hinged. That said, the only one I've seen is at least 120mm and I have no idea if they make them any more.

Some people report problems with the clamp not holding well; I haven't had that problem but I'm not a terribly aggressive rider. Cinelli made bars with serrations on the clamp section to help hold them in place; I suspect the people reporting problems may not have used these bars.

Is this hinged?

My issue is the drop bars going with the stem have unique tubing that wont suite a normal single bolt style.

Thanks for the 3ttt suggestion, i'll look into that...
