Folding Bikes - Oh wow!

I picked up the Friday this weekend -- a black Pocket Rocket -- and can't get over how nicely it rides. I swear that if I close my eyes and don't think about the tiny wheels I would think I was riding a "normal" bike. Getting it in the case for the ride home was a little more fiddly than I would like -- the handlebars really didn't seem to want to fit -- and I just spent the best part of an evening almost putting it back together again, but I think this bike is going to be Fun. My initial aim is to use it for trips to Britain, where I stay 10 bike-path miles away from the place I visit every day, but I love the idea of using it to tour as well.

Thanks to all of you for advice as I wrestled with the what-to-buy decision. Here are the pictures, which admittedly neither show the correct side of the bike, nor are shown against the backdrop of a white garage door. I don't even own a car, let alone a garage.

Oh, and the stem is a temporary one after the Bike Friday people managed to put the wrong sized thingy on the bike when I came by to collect it. The aim is to adjust it as I see fit over the next little while, and then send it back for them to make a clone that will actually be the same color as the bike.

Re - your signature remark - 'Zero gallons to the mile.' I once saw an analysis of the oil content of food production. It is surprisingly high (chemical fertiliser, on farm oil use, delivery of food to end user). You might be surprised to know that the cyclist's extra food requirements do have a real miles to the gallon cost.

Good point! I often notice that on days that I don't ride, I don't need to eat either.
