I've got a Niterider HeadTrip headlamp that I got for next to nothing, but works great... except for with the extension cable. It's a 2006, NiMH, 10W Halogen with a 6v battery pack. I've tested out the battery runtime, more than once, figuring that I probably got it for so cheap because of a burned out battery. It still runs great and for at least the advertised run-time. That's only when it's plugged directly into the battery pack though - when using the extension cable it'll turn on but it is very touchy. The light will go on and off with even the slightest movement.
I assumed it was a bad extension cable, so when I let my friend borrow it recently for a 24-hour race, I told him he'd have to buy a new extension cable. The nice folks at the NiteRider tent gave him a new cable for free, but it does exactly the same thing. Now I don't even know where to begin, though I suppose the worst case scenario is that I send it to NiteRider with $20 for out-of-warranty repair. Just hoping you brilliant folks here might have some ideas or maybe even previous experience with a similar problem.

FWIW, it's not the Digital Headtrip model - just the Headtrip.
