Introductions - Getting ready for Ragbrai!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello all I have joined the forum to get back into riding. This year I am going to do Ragbrai for the 4th time. I missed last year and a couple previous years I was the sag driver this year I want to ride. I am riding a GT ZR-5.0 with all 105 componets. I am looking to upgrade my frame to carbon. I'm looking at the Specialized Roubaix or maybe a Leader I'm not for sure. If anyone has any suggestions I'm open to them for if they are selling a frame or even complete bike I might be interested. I just wanted to say hello and happy riding.:)

Sounds like a great ride and a great goal. Out of curiousity, how long does it take to bike across Iowa? Can't give any advice on your bike choices. I ride an Orbea Onix. Try posting your question in the Road Cycling Forum.

It is a 7 day ride. It is a blast there is probably about 15 or 20 thousand people that do it. It is the last full week in July you should do it!

I'd love to, however how do you get back to the starting point when you're done the ride? and where abouts do you start the ride? It looks to be about an 11 hour drive for me (Cambridge to Iowa) if the race starts on the eastern border.
