I'm impressed with how much can be done, apparently, with this clever little bike tool. Can I get one at K-Mart?

a lot more can be done with a 6in adjustable wrench.

I remember cheapies from my youth. Seems that Rivendell stocks them.

There was one of those in the tool kit that came with my Puch moped in the late 70's!

I have a dime store bike tool kit from the 70s with one of those. We used to call them "dog bone" wrenches and, as they were typically made out of pot metal, they weren't very usefull.

Just broke mine this week. Glad to have it gone. A small crescent is more useful.

It looks like an old multi-size wrench that used to be popular in the olden' days, like anything pre-1960's. I believe it is of British origin, and I think that Sheldon Brown had some pictures of similar tools being used

I think that although you don't need such a tool, but it's very pretty! =D

I have one in the special bike toolbox I just put together last night. I went through my box o' crap and took out every bike specific tool and added the nice set of ball-end T-handled allen keys I got for Christmas.

The tool pictured I found at the bottom of the box with a bike repair kit that came with the wife when we got married 25 years ago. A poor piece of crap kit and I've never used that tool in 25 years... why? because in the saddle bag for bikes that require wrenches (my newer bikes literally take only allen keys for field repairs) I have an adjustable wrench and multi-tool. In the garage, I use real box-end and open end wrenches. I put it in the new tool box though because it doesn't take up much space and I can't make myself throw it away.

Look for them at general stores that sell bike stuff. I don't believe you'd find one in a real bike shop though.

Dogbone? Comes in that dollar store flat kit you can get.
