i've never visited hamptons before and want to take my bike (folder) on the lirr and bike around the areas one day. and i have some questions:

1. which one should i choose out of the 3 in term of most beautiful mansions and scenery: east, west, or south hampton?

2. are there any bike lanes out in those area? if not, how are the car traffic? i would assume not as much compare to nyc since it is in the suburbs?

3. what are the helmets law in those area? i dont like to ride with helmet and i dont want this to start into a thread war about it. i was able to get this info regarding helmet law for the state of new york:

State Law Passengers under 5
State Law Riders under 14
Eastchester Under 19
Erie County Parks All ages
Greenburgh All ages
Guilderland Under 14
Onondaga County-Syracuse Under 18
Rockland County All ages
Suffolk County 14 to 17

i would assume the hampton area is either the rockland or suffolk county? can someone let me know where is the county for rockland and suffolk?

4. i would like to visit the nearby beach in the area...are those free and do they allow you to bring your bike on the sand? if not free, what the is the general admission price?

thx in advance.

1. They are all nice; take your pick. EH may be a little tougher to find access to the beach. Southhampton is very nice, look on the map around the Mecox bay area. Cupsogue, Ponquogue and Pikes beach are accessible from Dune Rd. in West Hampton.

2. Mostly Town roads.

3. This is a good place to ride if you don't wear a helmet. The residents are wealthy and often drunk, when you get hit, you'll have a good lawsuit.

4. I believe most beaches are free if you arrive by bike

PM me with your address and I'll send you a Long Island bike map.

P.S. it's Suffolk County, Rockland is North

thx brian c...i said i have a folder...lirr said "Note: Collapsible bicycles do not need a permit, but must be folded while boarding, exiting, and being stored on a train." so i dont need a permit.

if i get hit by one of those drunk millionaires..i make sure i get a lawyer and suit for all their worth...lmao...thx.
