I need to replace my Falcon freewheel. I was wondering that if I bought a Shimano freewheel, it should fit onto my wheel right? Thanks.

Yes. IRD also makes very nice freewheels.

IRD does make a good freewheel, almost silent too. They're expensive, but they come in configurations new Shimano's don't. You could also check out eBay for one. I'm not even gonna bring up threading, just buy a Japanese (Shimano, Suntour, SunRace) or IRD freewheel and you'll be fine.

Make sure you get the right freewheel tool. The Falcons use one that looks similar to the Park FR-1 that Shimano freewheel uses but is slightly different (FR-7). I could not make my FR-1 work with a falcon freewheel.

100% correct. If you attempt to use a FR-1 on a falcon freewheel you WILL strip the splines.

Most of us have a shelf/box/drawer full of freewheel-removers. The reason for this is each brand asserts it's autonomy in the design where you need to take it off from the hub.

I have 13.
