Just saw this and must say Clint Eastwood is awesome. Don't know if dude is really aging the way the movie portrays him, but he does a hell of a job. Probably one of the better movies I have seen recently and is a nice change; finally a macho movie that will put some hair on your ba((s.

"Gran Torino" is a great movie. Personally, I thought it to be one of the best I'd seen in years. :thumb:

He says that it is, but he also said the same thing during the filming of Million Dollar Baby

best domestic big-release movie of the year (milk didn't suck either).
funny how the simplest movies are very often the most timeless. no
big budget effects, just true to life acting and situations.
how was this not nominated? miss the cut-off date? will it be nominated
but forgotten) next year?

I really liked the movie also and think it is one of the best I've seen in a long time.

it doesn't jump out at you, just kinda sneaks up as you realize this is your grandfather, or relative
or someone who lives in your neighborhood. most of us have probably known someone like the character
eastwood portrays at some point of our lives. did they change with the times/situation and if so, for better or worse? found that lots of people didn't like this film. last one i found like this where people where at opposite ends of the spectrum was lost in translation with bill murray & scarlett johanssen. it had a very zen-like, placid pace that upset lotsa people for wasting good money on nothing substantial. others saw the
seemingly innocuous dialogue/scenes as representing the mundane in our lives that we usually dismiss & may not be so mundane after all.
