Absolutely. They were built with both 3 and 4 speed Sturmey Archer hubs. The 4 speed gives you tighter gear spacing over a marginally wider range, but both are good. That'll be an F frame Moulton though, not a Spaceframe like the new ones, and unless it's either specifically advertised as Stowaway or Seperable, it won't be folding either.

If you found a Moulton still in the box, that is a fantastic find. Buy it immediately. (If the asking price is reasonable.)

What's the asking price? Because these bikes are highly sought after, and a minty one is literally worth at least $1k, more probably $2k, and I'm not even an informed Moulton enthusiast. There are collectors in Japan who are buying up the world's Moultons.

It's worth more in the box and unridden, by the way.

They were built with both 3 and 4 speed Sturmey Archer hubs.

Single speeds and two-speeds as well.
