Bicycle Mechanics - Painting Cranks?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hey there,
I've got a set of some RF Prodigy XC cranks and since their laying around, I decided to give them a try on my trials bike. My question is, is there any way of painting/coloring the cranks? Their currently silver, and I'd like to make them black. HOnestly, I care way too much about my bikes appearance. Is there some sort of like permanant paint or anything that would resist shoe rub?
Thanks
Byron

if you have a lot of time and resources you can anodize them black yourself. look up anodizing aluminum at google and all the info you need will be there. or you can pay and have them powdercoated, which is pretty durable. or you can just rattle can paint them, but it will scratch off easily, so you'll probably be repainting them a lot!
any kind of like paint layer which would keep the paint on?

Maybe clearcoat it a few times?
Mostlikely the shoe rubs is gonna take it down really quickly. Its worth a try I guess

if you decide to paint them yourself, make sure you use a primer first.
Follow directions on how to prep the metal for paint, use a good primer, and a number of coats of the paint, with plenty of drying time and sanding between coats.
the paint will still get scuffed and scratched (like any other paint), but if you use a good primer, at least it will not flake or peel off....

For AL anodizing or powder coating is best.

If you decide to go the powder coat route, you might as well order yourself up a set of pedal taps. You will need to clean up the threads or your pedals won't go on.
