Tandem Cycling - old Cannondale Frame: cable routing

Hi,
I am building up a road/touring tandem using an old Cannondale frame. Many questions have already been answered in this forum. Thanks to all the guys contributing!

But I still have three questions concerning cable routing:

Does anyone know where I can find rather small cable pulleys?? Like one can see in a picture, they are used to route the cable to the drum break (which I would like to install since I live in the alps) and to the front derailleur.

The frame is made for downtubeshifters but I want to use Ergos. So I need downtube housing stop adaptors. But my bosses look quite different: They are a bit bigger and they don't have a hole with a thread.

And I need a cable guide at the front bottom bracket for three cables. Any idea where I can get that??

The rest of the bike is going to be very nice! 1 inch Wound up fork, Campa tandem cranks, all parts in silver....Looking forward to ride it in spring! Greetings from Austria! Any help appreciated!:thumb::thumb:

Your downtube bosses almost look like there is a cap on them that has been added and painted to match. I haven't seen a boss without a threaded hole before

That tight turn around the pulley for the front derailleur is deadly for cables. I got rid of mine and zip tied a piece of shift cable housing from the boom tube, up around the bottom bracket and zip tied it off to the seat tube. Maybe ten inches of the stuff. The result is better shifting than you'll ever get with that tiny pulley, and far greater cable life.

You could do something similar with the other cables as well if you can't find pulleys. Don't be too compulsive about the pulleys- they don't work well, and they are not really necessary if you get creative with cable housing and zip ties. The bonus is better shifting.

Your message sent me on a hunt through my parts box, and I think I have some of the parts you need.

I definitely have the triple cable guide for the front bottom bracket, and I have a pair of cable stops for the downtube. I also have one of the pulleys, but if you read my previous post, you'll know that I recommend not using it. It's the one I took off when I put in the cable housing for the front derailleur. I believe it would work as the guide for the rear derailleur cable, though, and you could use a length of cable housing for the front derailleur as I've described

I'd be very happy to send you these parts as a gift if you'll let me know how to get them to you.

I agree with Rick and Bill. It sure looks like the brazeon has a cap over it.

As for the pulleys, both are still on our Cannondale, but the front derailleur cable mod Rick mentioned was already planned. He just reaffirmed my decision to make it so. The pulleys diameter is just not good for the cable or the shifting.

You have been perfectly right, the bosses have been covered by a plastic cap. I could not see it.

And I will follow Rich's advice concerning the cable guiding at the rear bottom bracket and will gladly accept his generous offer.
