Avid cyclist and longtime Burnaby Velodrome Club member Doug Preston was killed on Tuesday (2/18) after being struck by a motorist who apparently fell asleep at the wheel and crossed the centerline. From the info I have, he was killed instantly.
I knew Doug personally, and while I wouldn't go so far as to call him a friend, he always had a kind word for me when I saw him at the velodrome or out on the road. He will be missed by many. My condolences to his family and friends...
