The plastic front chainguard on my 2007 Downtube NS just shattered this morning in the cold (at the plastic screw-together points).

Has anyone found a suitable replacement? I am more concerned about keeping the chain up when it falls off the sprockets than about protecting pants.

I found a page that lists all sort of "bash rings and guards" but doesn't seem like any but the Kool Stop will fit the 48T front ring.

Suggestions???

I was never able to find a metal guard to replace the plastic one that also shattered on my Dahon. I ended up doing a long chainguard that was primarily for keeping my pants clean.

I would suggest you try Thor from ThorUSA. He may have posted here that he had some in stock for Dahons.

I took mine off right after I bought my bike. I changed size. I think it is around somewhere if you just want a replacement.

I would contact Downtube Bicycles directly...I think all their derailleur bikes have a 48T chainring, hence the same chainring guard. They must have an extra guard around that they could sell/give you.
