Southern California - Millcreek Summit

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hey everyone, thinking about going to watch the ToC at Millcreek this year but bringing the wife and daughter means that riding is out of the question. Does anyone have any advice on where the best place to park is and the best route to take up there? Also how early do they close the roads?
Thanks everyone.

Last year I drove up Big Tujunga and was turned back by CHP at the intersection of Angeles Forest. They closed the road there at 12 noon. 1 1/2 hours before the race came through. I inagine they close AF from the other side about the same time. I'm thinking the only places to park will be along the road however there is a small parking lot on a road that heads East? right at Mill Creek. The sign says Mt. Pacifico and the paved road ends a short way up in the parking lot. If you are coming from LA take either Big Tujunga, enter at Oro Vista from Foothill [Jack in Box on Corner] to Angeles Forest and go left. Or go up Angeles Crest to Angeles Forest at Clearcreek. You could continue on AC past Red Box to Upper Big T and take that over to AF. I'm guessing it's open although I heard it was closed last week due to snow.

I was a couple hundred meters up from that picture. Took some crappy pictures and video.
Me and the dogs had fun.
It's a long wait for a very short event, even on a KOM.

Too crowded up there. I went instead to the Rose Bowl. Crowded, but not too, and plenty of good services.
