Mountain Biking - My new Enduro SX - Some assembly required!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Yo guys, I got my new frame today! Spent most of the evening (with a few distractions) putting it together. The mosquitos were getting really bad, so I stopped for the night, should have it done by tomorrow evening.
Sweet frame/bike so far!

Yes, the paint chip is pretty deep, but heck, I'll do worse on the first ride. Probably do worse putting it together.
I'm going to try to finish it up tonight. last night was getting late and I was getting tired!

Very nice looking bike. Ive always liked the enduro look. The sx frame just makes it look meaner. What kind of riding is it meant for, or what kinda are you going to use it for? Im sure its obvious but im not that familliar with components "yet". Also what is 4x or supercross riding. I've seen those on some enduro sx threads.

4x (sometime called dual slalom if 2 riders instead of 4...4is way more fun to watch), bikercross is basically a groomed dh course with fast bermed turns and lots of table tops and sometimes rythm sections. Esentially a downhill dirtjump park. The SX is ideal due to its geometry and its naturally stiff feeling suspension. On a bikercross course you don't want plush like a dh or fr bike. You want the bike to be similar to a ht with spring to pump you fast through corners and rythm.
The SX is IDEAL for that type of riding but does work for shore riding (short chainstays and strong frame), xc (long tt and stiff suspension) and djing. Really there isn't a limit to the frame. As with any bike it can do everything but was built with a certain type of rider and course in mind.
Hmm just thinking to myself, I wonder if it is similar to the Fluid by Norco. Initially (2002 I think) the fluid line was designed because the vps (the big daddy of their freeride line) is damn HUGE. Smaller riders (5'6 and under) couldn't fit the bike comfortably for freeriding so they made the fluid. Bighits have a similar HUGE feel. I wonder if initially the SX was a comprimise. The frame is more similar in strength to the bighit than a traditional enduro...hmmmm

Yep, Maelstrom has covered everything that has to be said about 4x.
I would like to add a few more things,... to the SX this time.
Coming directly from a hardtail, i chose the SX as a trailbike. The best way to describe it is , "A fully-suspended-hardtail-feeling-bike-with-4.5" of travel". Which is ideal for my technical downhill trails. Formally it is a 4x race bike, informally, everyone in the UK ,also uses it as a hardcore trailbike, lightduty DH/FR.
Thanks for the info guys. btw maelstrom i don think the link works.

Since this thread is slightly hijacked, TBB will be running a 4x dh race at the nationals this year. I can not wait to see what happens when they head into the first part of the single track;)
a2, don't forget pics of the first ride.
