I just purchased a polar heart monitor (F7) and have been reading about different "target zones" and how to find "your zone". One way is the Karvonen Target Heart Rate Calculation and the other is the standard method 220 - Age * % of max heart rate. The Karvonen formula puts your heart rate much higher for "each zone" than does the standard formula. I am using the heart rate monitor for my indoor cycling on the trainer. Any advise or opinions would be of great help. Thanks in advance
Those formulas are approximations. I think the only accurate way to find your maximum heart rate is to find your maximum heart rate. It's located inside a red tunnel. You'll know it when you get there.
