Coming home on the last big descent on a 4-lane, 45 mph. artery just before I turn at the bottom of the hill into my subdivision, as usual, I took the lane, signalled left, looked back at the motorist controlling the next lane over and waited. Sure enough, he/she slowed to my speed and let me over. I crossed that lane and took the center turning lane to make my turn at the bottom of the hill (as I've done a hundred times before.) Made my left without a hitch at a very good speed.

When acting as a vehicle, I get more cooperation and respect from motorists. This allows me to get where I want to go with as few problems as possible.

Well said. That's been my experience too for the most part.

I have a similar turn situation on my commute, and take the far left lane to make my left. It does unnerve the on coming drivers. My biggest fear is the head case that is at the stop sign I'm turning in front of, waiting to make a left turn themselves in oposition to three(3) signs forbidding a left turn at that intersection. I know I'm gonna get popped.

As a matter of course. Act like a vehicle and you will be treated like a vehicle.

Yep, I notice this too.
