Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - How are you getting in shape?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I spent a snowy Saturday sweating and doing a Spinerval Workout... 50 minutes. I posted a video on my www.clydesdalefitness.com blog
That Coach Troy is a bear.
Wonder what everyone else is doing who can't ride outdoors? We're getting another 4-6 inches of snow today in SE Michigan.

Eating less and spinervals, they have become much more enjoyable with the big fan in place.

By swallowing anything I can get my hands on. It's not really working out very well for me though as I was really shooting for something more in the hexagon shape rather than round.

Ive been trying to eat less, and riding the trainer twice a day for half hour at a time (about 10 miles each ride according to my computer)
I cant wait to be able to get outside...im in NW Ohio, and yes...more snow.

I count calories like a hawk and workout on the bike for 60min. at least 4 days a week and jump on my rowing machine for 30 min. at least 3 times a week.
So far it's working. Down to 193lbs.

I decided to focus on healthy breakfasts since that was my most unhealthy meal, so I'm eating steel cut oats nearly every morning, usually with savory spices, not sweet. I've also been getting about an hour of cardio per day in Feb, up from 50 min per day in Jan. Mostly riding on my rollers in the basement, a few bike rides outdoors, and about 2 weight lifting sessions per week. I do intervals twice a week and a couple of longer lower intensity rides of up to 110 min. That's as long as I can bear on the rollers. I bought myself a heart rate monitor in Jan and that has really helped me a lot to get my hard workouts harder and my light workouts lighter in intensity but longer in duration.

Ditto that!

Well today I worked 7am-4:30pm so I started out with a bowl of oatmeal at 6:30am
During my break I had a Fuji Salad (I work at Panera Bread) and after work I cycled to the gym and met my friend Karla from work. Too bad she is married, haha

We'll see how it works out when the weather finally breaks and I can start riding outside. I really don't think I will be able to go as fast...plus with a stop every mile, that will slow me down as well.

My shape kinda went flying out the window. Then my husband got irritated with my irritability and bought me a trainer with an adaptor so I can use my recumbent. First day it arrived, I had it assembled in 15 min and spent 1 hour on it. 2nd Day, I spent 1 hour 15 min. Today, I'm hoping for 1.5 hours. :)
It's not as good as road cycling, but it is far easier on my back and ankles than just about any other exercise and I get an extra boost knowing that it's helping build me back toward my longer distances when the good weather returns.
It's given me a kick in the butt with eating better and I've lost 2.5 pounds this week and feel the best I've felt since the snow and ice arrived. :thumb:

I try to ride as much as possible, sometimes an hour a day, some days 90 minutes or more. We don't have any snow, and ice is very rare.
Been doing short workouts at home several times a day. My oldest son and I hit the fitness club today for a good worksout. I'm hoping that I can continue working out at the club at least twice each week.
Also, I'm watching my diet more closely. I'm down from 224 to about 202! Would like to get my weight down to 175-180, and keep it there!

What is up with the weather, a couple of weeks ago, everything had a thick blanket of white stuff, then the temp went up to 9℃ for just over a week and it all went away, then it got colder this week and we now have a thick blanket again and I am debating going out to shovel..... I can't wait for spring, but I have been saying that since November.....
