I'm so excited I can barely contain myself. I wanna go ride right now. I have everything all laid out and have gone over everything twice. This will be my second century this month. I am really gonna try and go fast this time around. 6:15 ride time first time(unsupported), this time i wanna go for 5:30(supported)
Just thought I'd share my excitement with everyone.

Yeah thanks, I have all my drinks and gels and powerbars laid out on the counter, my clothes hanging the pump ready to fill up tires in morning. The recovery drinks placed in the right spot so my wife has them ready as soon as i finish lol. Should be a lot of fun, weather is gonna be in uper 60s winds around 10mph. I don't think I could ask for better conditions.

Good luck....I ride the Tour de Cure next weekend in Venice...Signed up for the century but after the 58 miles today I am not sure about it. I rode the whole Van Fleet Trail round trip. First the cold, low 40's, glad I bought those leg warmers and fingered gloves...lol. the headwind the last 29 miles killed me. I am not sure I can make the 100 miles. I might chicken out and do the 60 mile route....lol...stay tuned to find out...

My TdC ride isn't until May, but I am riding the Chilly Hilly as a century by starting from my house and riding 35mi to and from the start for a 33mi ride.
Good luck on hitting your 5h 30m goal! I'm not aiming for anything close to that. Projected weather:
40F start, 55F high
50% chance of rain all day
9 - 12mph E/SE wind all day
Go for it Jess. I hope you make your goal.

Well I did every clyde proud, 5:16 total ride time, with total time approx 5:30. Hooked up with a great club from the start a peloton of about 30 riders. We hauled butt the entire ride. Two breaks, fill up your water bottles and hammer it.
My wife has taken some pics I will make sure to post them later today.

Actually it was longer than 5:30 total time because we also stopped for a crash for about 10 minutes

I thought the same thing back in 2007. I would just ride the 25 mile route. Instead I did a century. And if I can do it, so can you. If you want to, of course.

So true, I woke up two weeks ago, decided I wanted to do it and wouldn't accept anything less.

I would just go for it, but I am just getting into cycling and although I was riding like 10-15 miles at the end of last year no problem, Im not sure how easily I can handle such a long ride. But I do have 4 months until my ride, so I can always change my route if I want to.

Jess that is awesome man.....I am going to go for it. You have inspired me so I will go ahead an do the century. I know it won't ride it in under 6 hours, but under 8 hours would be great...lol...
Drew, we need to hook up down there.

All seriousness stick with a group, you will ride much faster.

When I did it I was just getting into cycling too. Literally - I never rode as a child, so I had to teach myself at age 40. 10 months later I rode a century.
