Recently had the chance to ride a 2008 Jamis Aurora Elite with a steel frame and a carbon fork and was impressed with the ride and feel of the book. This bikes seems to strike a great balance between comfort and snappiness.

I'm now wondering what other bikes compare to this bike? The 2008 Aurora Elite was essentially a touring bike with a cyclocross frame (in steel!). And it came with decent Shimano 105-Ultegra components.

Trouble is that the new 2009s are now full on touring bikes and have lost the "snap" of the 2008s.

I am now looking for either a new 2008 (if someone has one a 51cm or 53cm?) or trying to find something similar. Would appreciate your thoughts.

If you're looking for a CX bike, the Jamis Super Nova (http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/thebikes/road/nova/09_supernova.html) and the Nova Pro (http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/thebikes/road/nova/09_novapro.html) are the CX bikes they make.

Can't help you with locating a bike. My '05 Jamis Nova (which is on the auction block) is a 57 cm.

Both the Nova Pro and the Supernova are aluminum frames though.

Well, finally tracked down a 2008 Jamis Aurora Elite through Hollywood Pro Bicycles... Arrives next week. Totally thrilled. Feels like this is one unique bike.
