Introductions - Hello from VA!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hello everyone!
I am getting back into cycling... saw this site surfing the net and figured I would sign up. I am hoping to learn a lot here and maybe even have something of my own to offer. I don't do any serious riding right now, but maybe someday I will get all my stamina back for some. I live in Virginia, so there are plenty of hills on the streets or if they are not enough, mountains in all directions.
Happy posting,
B.

Cool, I did my riding there a few years ago while working on a job for Plow and Hearth in Madison. Absolutely beautiful place to be.
I'd ride up to Skyline after working all day and blow off steam on the parkway. I saw more trophy bucks on those rides than grace the cover of whitetail magazine in a years time. Even sat on my bike and watched two large bucks fight it out from about 25 yards away.
I rode past a buck of at least 12-14 points with what appeared to be a good 18 inch spread so close I could have slapped his butt as I went by.
Saw a bobcat scoot across the highway and duck into some heavy cover one evening.
It was such a pleasure to both exercise and enjoy a multitude of game at the same time.
For anyone, Skyline Drive is some of the most beautiful country to ride. The nice thing is, if you don't want to ride up the mountain you can take you bike up on a car, park at a pull-off and ride a basically flat... curvy mountain road all day. On your way back to your car, you will see all kinds of wildlife. I have seen just about every wild animal in the US on the Drive at one time or another.

Virginia is world class my friend I hope you do get out and ride. You'll only get stronger and enjoy it more and more. Skyline is a great ride. I've never been on it on a bike but plan on doing some touring at least on the Blue ridge Prkw which is my neck of the woods but esentially the same thing. Those roads are pretty easy riding but holy cow the little back routes going up to it are brutal!!! enjoy

Howdy BDog!
I grew up a WaMaVa kid on the shore of the Potomac ...right across the river from Mt. Vernon. Ever been to the Natl. Colonial Farm? I lived right next to it. Boy, I sure do miss eating crabs at the local crab house ...Popes Creek.
I see you a computer guy ...me too.
