Advocacy & Safety - morning show cyclist bashing

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I got this link in my mail. This is my home city and, although I didn't hear the actual show, I can assure you that these comments have made the streets more dangerous for people in Atlanta. The response of the station is, I feel, typical of the reactions expresses by corporations whenever their subordinates step over the line. It is incredible that they think they can get away with crap like this. It is even more incredible that they probably will.

I'm listening to these shows. I think the biggest problem is that they're just not funny. These local morning show people have to be the biggest lacks of talent ever. They're all just bad Howard Stern wannabe's. Whatever though, if they want to use these bits go for it. I don't like it but I'm not for censorship. I just can't figure out why people would listen to these boring lack of talent local radio guys. The only thing I really ever listen to is NPR or Howard Stern. I think Stern is really funny and a hell of a lot smarter than most of these guys (just in case a flame war starts :)). So do what you can and just don't listen to these morons. That and we can start putting spikes and oil slicks on our bikes. Turn them into post apocalyptic machines of death ala Mad Max.

oops, this thread has already been started.
Directly contact the FCC and the show's sponsors, rather than the station management.

I'm thinking maybe cyclists should start wearing T-shirts that say:
"KEEP THE ROADS SAFE: KILL A D.J."
In small print we could add "Just kidding." So that everyone will know it's a joke. And of course if anyone actually does kill a DJ, we won't be culpable.
Do you think Miller and his pals would see the humor in it?

I have never heard this on any of the radio stations I listen to...
maybe the DJ's in SD are more cyclist friendly?

I think we need a "Do not feed the trolls" sign for these guys.

Now that is a good idea. I was about to be a DJ here at college just for fun, but my friend left to go into physical rehab for his back so it never went through. Think about it, these people aren't the best and the brightest. At most they needed a communications degree, which is one of the easiest. I'd wear that shirt though :) Peace.

Definately tasteless, but i think most of the masses already know that your average mic-jockey morning radio person talks more crap than a manure salesman. I highly doubt anyone would take them seriously.
If any serious percentage heeded the words of shock-jocks....the old KSJO "whip `em out wednesday" (girls from a local nudie bar would flash guys in traffic who had a KSJO bumper sticker) would have been far more widespread than it was.
