Idiot that I am, I didn't tighten the rear gear cable enough at the derailluer and as I was running through the gears, the cable sucked itself into the STI shifter at the cable entry point.
No amount of pushing will release the cable, I've removed the front cover but still no joy getting it back out. Anyone else experienced this?

Doesn't matter, sorted now.

Yeah ... Thanks. What ever you do ... don't share the answer with the rest of the forum. Wouldn't want to spread the knowledge or anything silly like that ...

Whilst pulling on the cable where it exits the shifter to run down to the gear mech, release the tension (i.e. as you would to shift to a smaller cog). Once you have released as much cable tension as possible, the cable nipple should now be in the position where you can push it out of the shifter (you may need to remove the little rubber cover that is exposed when you pull the brake lever) :)
