Road Cycling - Look Pedals - Other Options

I am getting kind of tired of replacing my Look cleats as they seem to wear so poorly. Not to mention I tend to develop annoying squeaks at the pedal cleat interface. Yes, PAM works, but is annoying to have to do.

I used to ride SPD-R, but got hot spots even with a good shoe.

Does anyone have any ideas what another good quality, durable, pedal with a surface area that is not prone to causing hot spots on 100 mile and double metric rides?

The carbon Looks seem to be immune to the squeaking found on their metal brethren.

Speedplay X or Zeros would be my vote. Might also want to look into the Time Impacts.

I rub a block of wax over my cleats and pedals and don't have squeak problems.

mine don't squeak much, but when they do, i just use it as a cadence reminder. i find that helps me to pick it up a bit. it also saves me $200+ on new pedals.

Time Impacts are a nice choice

I like Time Impacts mucho
but you still have to occasionally lube for squeaks

I'm a Time convert after Looks for a few years
