This thing has been up for about a month and I was thinking about picking it up. But, $550?
What is it about this Schwinn that demands such a high price tag? And does it belong in the numbskull section?

Quite sure it's a Premis. I like the white anodized Suntour Sprint components, but personally I wouldn't pay that asking price.
Around here that is a $300 bike or less, depending on condition. It should take him a while to find a willing buyer.
Check that, the Premis is a half step down from the Tempo. It is the bike between the Tempo (higher end) and the Prelude. The Tempo would sell in the $250 to $275 range, putting the Premis more like $250.
FWIW: I have both a Tempo and a Prelude right now... The paint job on that Premis looks similar to my 1988 Tempo.

I see, well when Uncle Sam gives me my money back I may try to talk this guy down into a resonable price range.

A nice bike indeed but not $500 nice. Maybe $300....maybe.
I agree with the 300ish range depending on location.

I agree with the 300ish range depending on location.
Maybe if it were completely overhauled with new consumables, which doesn't appear to be the case. If I really wanted it, I personally wouldn't go more than $200-$250.

Far too much for a ho-hum bike with ho-hum components. I just perused your CL and there are some much better bikes at better prices than this one. Be patient, something will come along.
I would jump all over the Lotus Elite for $60 myself.
