Southern California - Orange County Bikeways Strategic Plan

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I got the following e-mail this morning.
------------------------------------------------------
OCTA is pleased to announce that the draft 2009 OCTA Commuter Bikeways Strategic Plan (CBSP) has been prepared, and is available for review. The draft 2009 CBSP was developed with input from Orange County's local jurisdictions, the general public, and OCTA committees and advisory groups. The plan will serve as a roadmap and resource to Orange County's 34 cities and the County of Orange for coordinating bikeway development efforts. OCTA appreciates the participation of all who have been involved in the CBSP development process, and looks forward to receiving your comments on the draft plan.

Final comments on the CBSP are due by close of business on March 16, 2009.

Is this part of some kind of Stimulus plan?

This bikeways master plan was in motion long before the local and national economy went into meltdown. Of course that doesn't mean our local government people wouldn't use this to shop for some of the stimulus package money. It beats throwing money at AIG.

I downloaded the 8 mg file pretty quick, and it's an impressive report. It floors me that places like Portland and Boulder get all these gold medal bike city awards from League of American Bicyclists, yet OC has not even an "honorable mention" from LAB.
