Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - UltraFazer Max v. Blaze 1w v. Eos = ?

Okay so I've tried to find out as much about these three lights as I can, but beam shots and such are few and far between. I've read all about the flashlight stuff and just don't think I'd be happy with those solutions and just can't fork over the cash for the high end bike lights.

So help me decide.

I hate the white Blaze 1w, and already own the Superflash Stealth so am not hugely in favor of forking over for the set in black...but if this is there is a huge difference in the quility of the beam on the Blaze over the other two, I'd probably go for it.

I've read of the mounts not being very durable on the Eos, and it seems to be rated at lower lumens (50) compared to what I've read the other two are rated at (70). I do like the AAA battery size as then all of my lights would use the same size, making carrying spares easier.

That leaves the UltraFazer Max, which I just can't find all that much talked about. It seems to be a good light. Am I missing something that causes it to be not talked about?

Buy a P7 torch.

I was in a similar situation to you and bought a £50 Luxeon cycle headlight.

I then discover a $25 Q5 torch outperformed it entirely and effortlessly.

I upgraded the Luxeon by fitting a Cree R2.

The $25 Q5 torch still outperformed it entirely and effortlessly.

Then I bought a P7 torch.

My recommendation to you would be to buy a torch, probably a P7.

Now do you have any experience with the lights I mentioned? What was the light you bought and weren't happy with, and why were you not happy with it?

A cheap Q5 torch will give you 100 - 200 lumens and be reliable.

A cheap cycle light might give you 40 lumens and cost you more money.

I used the Blaze 1 watt for the first time last night. Seems reasonably bright with a blue hue, illuminates signs and other reflective materials well, but I don't know how well it would do in really dark conditions. The roads I ride are well lighted for the most part. I might try a flashlight set up in the future if I end up needing more light.

I don't know if there's any reason not to, but if you buy the combo set you could always mount the SuperFlash to the front and leave it on constant or use both on the back, one on constant and the other on flash. Planet Bike's website has pictures of the beams for all their lights, if you haven't already seen 'em.
