Since I couldn't talk anyone into riding with me today, I decided to hit the hills by myself.

I haven't done the Alpine ride in about 4 - 5 years (on my single, and NEVER by myself). It's only about 10 - 12 miles up to Alpine from my house, but it's just about all up hill.

Even on the way back, I didn't want to take the same route because of road construction and metal plates in the road. My only other option was going back into town and then doing another mile and a half climb to my house. By the end of the ride I had done 2300 feet of climbing (that's a LOT for me).

It didn't help that the weather decided to turn very warm (82). Guess I can't complain to much, I did have a great time -- isn't that what it's all about?

Well I guess it's off to my 3 mile walk, then I can finally relax.

That's killer. Real killer. It's a tough life, but somebody's gotta do it.
My cat is a cat who thinks I'm a cat also.

Sounds like a very good ride to me. And, I would find 82 degrees to be a welcome relief to the current riding in SE Pennsylvania.

Yes Litespeed,

I've done the Alpine Challenge (in Alpine, CA) ride several times, but not sure if you rode the same route. Good roads, good climbing, good scenery . . . what's not to like?

Now that sounds a hard ride- 82 without acclimatisation would finish me aswell. And I hate to say it- but 2300 ft of climbing would make me think twice about that ride right now.

I am planning a few hills on Sunday but only 4 of them spread over about 30 miles. Each climb will only be about 600ft so will have plenty of time to relax and recover before the next one.

Good job Lightspeed !!!! Ive got many hills to climb yet in my life, as each one gives a strong sense of accomplishment.
