I don't have any pictures but the raleigh super grandprix is a frame and fork with some rust damge. colors are black and tan. it's a 53cm bike with cotter crank bottom bracket still installed. i've done some research and it seems to be from 1974ish. worth?

There ought to be a rule against asking for the value of a bike w/o posting pictures.

Wannagobackto3.50ifnopics?

No. I thought that to be a smartass answer that isn't in the spirit of this forum.

But jeeze, if you want to know an accurate estimate of the value of anything it has to be seen by the people you are asking.

It depends on how serious the rust problem is. If it is serious, then the bike could be worth what any salvagable components are on the bike, the so called donor bikes. I look to spend about $10 for a decent donor bike.

Rust abatement can be a fairly involved process. Worth it for a nice bike, maybe not worth it for a entry level bike.

Cottered crank is indicative of entry bike.

Minor rust is not such a big deal.

Here's a recap of an involved process.

I started with a Schwinn Prelude, picked up at a typical garage sale price, so I wasn't too concerned about issues (I would have just used it as a donor at that point.

First, I had to strip the bike down to the bare frame. Well, the seat post was stuck. Then the handlebar stem was stuck. That gives you an idea of disassembly.

Then I prepared my oxalic bath. Since I have six bikes to treat, not so much a big deal, but for one bike, a major pain.

Once treated, then you have to clean it, neutralize it, frame save it, then reassemble it. OK when you are campaigning several bikes.

That's a Raleigh 20-30 high tensile steel frame. Not chromoly, and not high end. I'm not sure about the earlier models but the later 70's came with Suntour bar end shifters. If it has the bar end shifters, I'd buy it just to get those. If not, I'm not sure it's worth it. OK, maybe $20 tops.
BTW, since it doesn't have wheels, if you buy it, I'd buy alloy rims not the original steel.
