Kilometers are only used by Europeans and Canadians...fascinating, did not know that. I thought it was just us backwards USofAmurricans not using metric...

Oh, and Tony, congrats!

This brings up whole new possibilities!

Can we choose the measurement we ride our age in?

I.e., could I ride my age in yards (or feet)? Or how about furlongs? Or light years?

Anyway, Tony V., either metric or miles, 61 is a great ride and congratulations!

Not all of Europe is metric in all respects. I still work in miles per pie and not Pies per 100 kms.

Now as to whether the American mile is as long as the UK one????:innocent:

Units are just for Physics majors. 61 is 61. Happy Birthday.

Just realised rather belatedly that I more than rode my age (51) in km (64) this year. This is probably a first, given the Frozen North is not that condusive to Feb. 15 bike riding. It helped that I wasn't in Toronto on the day in question.

I will be happy to ride my age in miles later in the year. Will that count?

Nice going. Any milestone is a good milestone. No pictures?

You want pictures??

Glorious downhill hill just outside Portland on two-day-old Bike Friday. Rubber duck on helmet as token contribution to the dress-up part of the Worst Day of the Year ride.

The person who invented the Worst Day of the Year ride clearly didn't realize that it wasn't.

Of course! I seldom get to ride my age on my January birthday so I save it until warmer weather:)

Three years ago the Solvang double century was on my birthday. I rode 200 mi. that day, so if this birthday ride stuff is right, I should live a long time!

I did about 68km today, exceeding my age in km by 10. My riding companion du jour has a friend who is riding his bike from north San Diego County to Solvang so that he can ride the double up there. I was afraid to ask whether he is also cycling back home afterward ...
